If you grew up in Suffolk County on Long Island like most of us did here at FlyboardLI then you know all about the great town of Port Jefferson on the north shore of our island home. The town hosts many great events all year long but when the weather gets warm that’s when things in Port Jeff really start to heat up with awesome happenings like the Port Jefferson Maritime Festival. Of course, we like to think the flyboarding demonstrations we’ll be putting on are the main event, but even if that’s not exactly true, there is something for everyone at the weekend affair in early June.
Port Jefferson, NY
As The Village of Port Jefferson website boasts, the town can be a destination for a day or a lifetime. Just so I don’t confuse anyone, if you’re not from New York, there are three levels of administrative divisions in the state. Port Jefferson is a village (anywhere else you’d probably say town) which is part of the Town of Brookhaven which is in Suffolk County. The village was settled in the 17th century and remains the transportation and cultural hub for the area with many feeder roads, train service and ferry service to Connecticut as well. A modern-day tourism destination since the 1960’s, FLyboardLI is proud to be part of the 4th Annual Maritime Festival and once again get the flyboarding season started with demonstrations and talks about flyboard equipment, flyboard lessons, flyboard safety and anything else you’d like to know.
Port Jefferson Maritime Festival
Officially the Port Jefferson Boater’s Maritime Festival Boating and Fishing Show, this fun-filled event will take place on June 6th and 7th (the first weekend of June) and include not only flyboarding demonstrations but many others as well. Come and enjoy sailing demonstrations, paddle boarding, kayaking and inflatables, too. There will be activities for people of all ages including live entertainment, available refreshments, touch tanks and treasure hunts for the kids, fishing and outdoor activity seminars and a boat show with over 50 models on display. The event hours are 11am to 6pm each day and flyboarding demos will be going on throughout the afternoon.
Why should you come and see a flyboard demonstration? We think there are a ton of reasons, but here are just a few:
- See firsthand exactly what equipment and safety precautions go into this amazing and fun activity.
- Speak directly to our certified flyboard pilots, including founder and chief pilot at FlyboardLI, Jimmy Bissett.
- Ask questions about requirements, group rates, flyboarding locations and anything else you’d like to know right from the experts.
- Best of all, if you book a future flyboarding flight at the demonstration, we’ll give you a nice discount as a bonus.
